Layers of the rainforest
There are different layers of the rainforest which are consisted of many different species of plants and with many different species of animals inhabiting different layers.

- The emergent layer - this layer is the tallest part and is made up of trees that can be up to 60 metres in hight with the trunks being up to 16ft in circumference
- The canopy layer - this layer is the main shelter for animals as it is considered to be the most dense layer and it is up to 40 metres high
- The under canopy- as suggested by its name this layer is the next layer down from the canopy and is between 20 and 30 metres high
- The shrub layer - this is the second to last layer of the rainforests and consists predominantly of shrubbery
- Forest floor - this is the lowest layer of the rainforest with leafs and twigs scattering the floor
